As a board-certified psychiatrist, I treat adults with mood and anxiety disorders. I offer services for those seeking psychotherapy, either alone or in combination with medication. I believe in providing a safe and calm environment that encourages exploration and collaboration between patient and therapist.
People seek a psychiatrist for a variety of reasons, but they frequently share one thing in common -- the desire to relieve their pain and to improve their satisfaction with life. This goal can be accomplished in a variety of ways, and a key component to successful treatment is the patient-physician relationship. Regardless of whether one chooses to use psychotherapy or medications (or both), an empathic and non-judgmental environment can facilitate the type of exploration that can help one to learn more about themselves, to examine the patterns in their life that they wish to change, and to develop the courage to make those changes.
